DescriptionJoin AWS as a Software Engineering Manager leading a high-performing team responsible for our design system, telemetry, marketer tooling, content generation experiences, and Generative AI capabilities. You'll manage a team of front-end engineers, quality assurance engineers, and design technologists who build and maintain the platforms that power AWS Marketing's digital presence for millions of customers worldwide.This team consistently delivers. Your job is to keep that momentum, remove obstacles, and create the conditions for continued excellence.You'll own the technical direction and delivery of systems that directly impact how customers experience AWS. Your team builds the component libraries, telemetry infrastructure, marketer tooling, content generation experiences, and Generative AI capabilities that enable AWS Marketing to move fast while maintaining quality and consistency. You'll partner with product, design, and engineering teams across the organization to deliver cohesive customer experiences.We're seeking a leader who elevates high-performing teams. You'll balance operational excellence with innovation, ensuring reliability while shipping new capabilities.Key job responsibilitiesLead and grow a high-performing team of front-end engineers, QA engineers, and design technologistsOwn technical strategy and delivery for design system, telemetry, marketer tooling, content generation experiences, and Generative AI capabilitiesMaintain team velocity and quality while scaling the organizationHire, develop, and retain engineering talentSet technical standards and drive engineering best practices across the teamPartner with product and design to define roadmaps and prioritize workCoordinate with partner teams across AWS Marketing to align on shared goalsDrive operational excellence including on-call, incident response, and reliability improvementsRemove blockers and protect the team's ability to deliverManage delivery across multiple workstreams with competing prioritiesCommunicate technical decisions and trade-offs to leadershipA day in the lifeYour primary focus is enabling your team to deliver high-quality work at speed. Most days start with your engineering team, whether that's a standup, a 1:1 with a team member, or reviewing a technical approach. From there, you're often in cross-team conversations, aligning with product and design on priorities or working through technical trade-offs. You'll spend time on people management too, from career development conversations to hiring. Some days you'll go beyond the usual and find yourself presenting to senior leadership, driving adoption of a new capability with a partner team, or diving deep into a technical problem alongside your engineers. The work varies, but you're always focused on removing obstacles, developing your people, and making sure the team ships great work.About the teamWe build and maintain the design systems and platforms that power AWS Marketing's digital presence, serving millions of customers worldwide. We also support key events and experiences across the organization. The team is composed of front-end engineers, QA engineers, and design technologists, and we work closely with product and design partners in the same organization. We're constantly learning and experimenting with new technologies to bring the latest and greatest to customers. We value speed, autonomy, delivery, and delightful customer experiences.Basic Qualifications4+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience3+ years of engineering team management experience7+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experienceKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsBachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related fieldPreferred QualificationsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategyExperience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experienceExperience with front-end software developmentExperience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scaleAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
