Rushville blends traditional Midwestern charm with thoughtful revitalization efforts, providing a strong sense of community, affordable living, and a relaxed pace of life while still being within convenient driving distance of Indianapolis and other regional hubs. Rushville is known for its friendly neighborhoods, historic downtown, and community-focused events, making it an ideal place for individuals or families seeking a quieter lifestyle without giving up access to cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities. The town and surrounding county emphasize quality of life, with parks, local festivals, and initiatives designed to preserve small-town character while continuing to grow and improve. Residents enjoy low commute times, an easygoing daily rhythm, and a supportive community that values its local healthcare providers. In this role, you will work as a generalist in a hospital-based laboratory that serves inpatients, outpatients, emergency, and local clinic populations. The environment is team-oriented and collaborative, with a strong focus on patient-centered care and reliability in service to the community. Because the lab supports a wide variety of cases typical for a regional/rural hospital, you will maintain and sharpen your skills across multiple disciplines rather than being confined to a single bench. Primary responsibilities include performing routine and complex testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and immunology, with additional responsibilities in blood bank and basic microbiology support depending on experience and staffing. You will be responsible for specimen processing, analyzer operation and maintenance, instrument troubleshooting, and the review and interpretation of test results. Maintaining strict adherence to quality control and quality assurance protocols, participating in proficiency testing, and following regulatory standards are integral parts of the role. The typical day for a generalist here includes: Receiving and processing specimens from inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department areas Running tests across multiple benches (such as chemistry, hematology, and coagulation) throughout the shift Assisting with blood bank duties, including crossmatching and issuing blood products as needed Performing and documenting daily quality control and calibrations Communicating critical results promptly to nursing units and providers Collaborating closely with nurses, physicians, and other lab staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic information Patient and workload volumes are designed to be manageable, allowing you to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while still seeing a wide variety of cases. Typical patient-to-lab staffing ratios in this type of regional hospital support a balanced workflow, with cross-trained technologists sharing responsibilities to cover all essential benches. Shifts may include a combination of days, evenings, nights, and rotating weekends or holidays, depending on department needs. A smaller, close-knit team means that everyone contributes to maintaining coverage, but it also provides the chance to develop strong working relationships and a supportive work culture. New staff receive training and orientation across the core laboratory areas, with ongoing opportunities to refine skills and take on additional responsibilities as they are ready. Overall, this MT/MLT generalist position in Rushville offers: The chance to practice as a true generalist, maintaining a broad skill set across multiple disciplines A meaningful role in a community where your work directly impacts your neighbors and local families A friendly, low-stress lifestyle in a small Indiana town with easy access to larger city amenities A collaborative, team-oriented laboratory environment that supports professional growth Required Qualifications Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist, Laboratory Experience: 2 years Certifications(At least one of the following): MEDTECH-American Society of Clinical Pathology, CERT-AMT-MT OR Medical Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Experience: 2 years Certifications(At least one of the following): MEDLABTECH-American Society of Clinical Pathology, CERT-AMT-MLT References: 1 Reference in entire work history Cerner LIS _ Vitros 7600, Rapidpoint, ID NOW, Piccolo, i-STAT, Triage, Clinitek, XN-100, XP-300 and Cepheid.
