Cost Controller

Job Description Position Summary:The Field Project Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, tracking, and analyzing project costs to support the successful financial performance of construction and field operations projects. This role works closely with project managers, field teams, accounting, and leadership to ensure accurate cost reporting, budget compliance, forecasting, and financial controls throughout the project lifecycle. The Field Project Cost Controller helps identify financial risks, cost variances, and opportunities for improved operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities:Track and monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, and expenditures for active field projectsPrepare and maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts, and financial projectionsReview invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor billings, and expense documentation for accuracy and complianceAnalyze cost variances and provide recommendations to project management and leadershipAssist project managers with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activitiesMonitor labor hours, equipment usage, materials, and subcontractor costs against project budgetsSupport month-end closing processes and coordinate with accounting teams on project financial reportingMaintain organized and accurate project cost records and supporting documentationAssist in tracking change orders, contract values, and project revenue impactsEnsure compliance with company financial procedures, policies, and contractual requirementsParticipate in project meetings and provide financial updates regarding project performanceIdentify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous process improvementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience in project cost control, construction accounting, or project financeStrong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and financial reporting principlesProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/project management softwareExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:Experience in construction, industrial, or field operations environmentsFamiliarity with job cost software, and payroll/labor tracking systemsExperience supporting multi-site or multi-state projectsKnowledge of contracts, change orders, and project billing processesWork Environment & Expectations:Fast-paced project and field operations environmentMay require periodic travel to project sitesRequires the ability to work collaboratively with field personnel, project management, and accounting teamsAbility to handle confidential financial and operational information with discretionCompany DescriptionAt Mammoth Industries, you'll be part of a team that genuinely makes a difference.
