High Voltage Electrician

US Department of Defense - - Responsibilities: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-voltage electrical generating equipment and distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, relays, circuit breakers, and underground conductors to ensure maximum power reliability for the Pentagon Reservation; Monitor the electrical system from a central control system on a rotating shift basis, operate various plant equipment, and apply a high level of skill in the diagnosis and repair of complex electrical faults using specialized diagnostic tools; Install, modify, and replace generation and distribution equipment in substations and transformer vaults; run and install wire and cable transmission lines through tunnels, trenches, and on structures up to 200 feet high; Perform high-voltage switching, grounding, and isolating procedures on energized systems, document findings in the maintenance management system (CMMS), and provide guidance and training to lower-grade employees
