Join our Fleet Garage team as a Master Level Technician - Heavy Duty and work on a variety of city vehicles and equipment.City of Fort Wayne - Fleet GaragePosition: Mid Level Technician - Heavy DutySchedule: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m., may varyWhat You'll Do:Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles, from construction equipment to fire trucks and SUVsDocuments defects and performs minor range repairs associated with preventative maintenance findings such as fluids, brakes, tires, lights, hydraulics, etc and general repair as well as moderate levels of removal and replacement and diagnostic work.Performs major and minor mechanical repairs to two stroke and four stroke compression ignition and spark ignition engines.Conduct minor engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical repairsAssist in new vehicle make-ready service and decommissioningProvide road-side assistance for city vehiclesMaintain clean, safe work area and comply with all safety proceduresMust-Have Qualifications:High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel enginesSkilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnosticsValid Indiana driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one yearWhy Join Us:Work on a wide variety of city vehicles and equipmentGain access to ASE and EVT certification opportunities fully paid by the cityJoin a dedicated team committed to keeping Fort Wayne movingAdvance your mechanical career while supporting Fort Wayne's essential services!Equal Opportunity Employer
