Automotive Instructor, Full-Time

Faculty member to provide instruction in assigned courses. Courses may be seated, synchronous, asynchronous, or hybrid. Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines. Must be willing to travel to high school locations and work with high school students. Serve on various campus committees and/or as an advisor for student organizations. Teaching schedules may include day or evening depending on course offerings.This is a full time, 9 month position.* Salary Commiserate with Education and Experience.This position is open until filled.Provide instruction in the automotive program to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles. Includes instruction in brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, suspension and steering, and heating and air conditioning systems, and related topics according to ASE Education Foundation guidelines.Contribute to the Automotive Program at the College and Campus level and help place students within the industry.Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to determine student performance.Demonstrate, endorse, and enforce student adherence to laboratory safety protocols.Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources outside of class, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner so as to promote student success.Support curriculum development by participating in the creation and evaluation of courses, curriculum, and programs; participating in program advisory committees; attending departmental, school-wide, and college-wide meetings; and serving as backup for other faculty members.Promote the success of the college by participating in standing and/or ad hoc committees and following college professional and ethical guidelines.Maintain teaching and work environment including equipment and supplies, overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.Stay current in Automotive and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, participating in professional development workshops and seminars, and participating in professional organizations and reading journals in the teaching and Automotive disciplines.Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies.Communicate clearly, conscientiously, professionally, and in a caring manner with students and colleagues.Participate in the orientation of new part-time and/or full-time faculty members, as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Education requirements:Master ASE certification, including G.1 and L.1 required. AAS Degree or higher required, AAS in Automotive preferredExperience:* 5 years' experience as an automotive technician minimum* Automotive industry training, preferredKnowledge of:Principles and procedures of academic and institutional program development in automotive technologies fieldCurrent trends, research, developments, and resources in automotive technologies fieldFederal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to students and teachingAbility to:Create effective instruction for delivery both online and in the classroom while maintaining compliance with ADA standards.Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writingWork effectively in diverse teams, both within assigned department and cross-functionally across the collegeInterpret and apply college goals, policies, and proceduresMaintain any relevant equipment and supplies related to instructionMultitask and create/maintain a learning environmentPhysical Conditions:Classroom environment; work closely with others; may be exposed to hazardous shop substances.Frequent walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time.Frequent communications, verbal and written.Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, Frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds.May be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards.Supplemental Information:Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class.Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.All advertised positions are contingent upon funding.All employees are paid by direct deposit
