Job Description:Title: Pathway & Academic CoordinatorUnit: Full-Time MCCC Professional StaffDepartment: Academic Advising and PathwaysReports to: Assistant Dean of Academic Advising and PathwaysDate: April 27, 2026General Summary: The Pathway and Academic Coordinator is a creative and knowledgeable professional who works collaboratively with other staff in the Academic Advising and Pathways Department to provide high quality developmental academic advising services to prospective and enrolled students from diverse backgrounds. This coordinator will actively contribute to the growth, development and activities of the Academic Advising and Pathways department and as part of larger college community in supporting student success, retention and college completion initiatives. They will work with students to help them develop educational plans that are consistent with their individual needs, abilities and goals. They will provide information about educational options, admission to selective programs, major and course selection, financial aid information, graduation requirements, transfer to baccalaureate degree programs, and college policies and procedures. This coordinator will also assist students with all aspects of onboarding and the transfer process. This position will work in close collaboration with staff from across the college, including: Admissions, Financial Aid, Enrollment Communications, Academic and Student Affairs program coordinators, and appropriate Directors and Deans.Duties and Responsibilities:Participation in Advising Center Activities:Advise assigned caseload and walk-in studentsParticipate in advising/registration sessions and appointmentsConduct outreach and communication to support student successSupport recruitment, transfer, and career events (on- and off-campus)Participate in assessment activitiesProvide extra coverage during peak registration periodsIntegrate pathway, transfer, and career resources into advisingConduct virtual advising using teleconferencing toolsStudent Advising Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive academic, career, and transfer advising from acceptance through completionDevelop academic and career plans using best practices (NACADA, Complete College America)Support student use of tools such as DegreeWorks, Navigate, Focus 2, College Scheduler, MassTransferAssist with career exploration using platforms like Handshake and Focus 2Provide information on programs, pathways, courses, and transfer creditConduct outreach to at-risk students (alerts, withdrawals, midterm grades)Support proactive outreach and retention initiativesAssist with enforcement of academic progress policiesCollaboration with Academic Divisions:Attend division/department meetingsPromote programs and build knowledge of assigned academic areasShare information across advising staffSupport development and updates of Academic/Pathway MapsSchool Certifying Official:Support veterans and military-connected studentsProcess and submit certification forms to the VAVerify enrollment and report changes affecting benefitsCollaborate with Veteran Resource Center and partnersDual Enrollment Advisor:Support high school students in Dual EnrollmentAssist with orientation programsProvide outreach and advising to students, families, and school staffCoordinator Functions:Manage department communications (email, texting platforms)Support student transitions into degree programsCoordinate advising sessions (in-person and virtual)Assist with scheduling and coordination with Student Information CenterSupport academic standing processes (warning, probation, suspension)Assist with student placementProvide support for Student Support Services populationsCoordinate support for at-risk studentsLead new student pathway and registration sessionsAdministrative Responsibilities:Maintain student records in Navigate and DegreeWorksDevelop and monitor student education plansCollect and share departmental data and informationCreate and update advising materialsReview transcripts and evaluate transfer credit (MassTransfer)Professional Growth and Development:Stay current with policies, trends, and best practicesParticipate in professional development (training, conferences, etc.)Serve on committees as approvedRequirements:* Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field* 3+ years in with prior experience in academic advising, student success, or higher education support servicesPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of student success strategies, retention initiatives, and guided pathways modelsFamiliarity with advising technologies and systems (e.g., DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate, Banner, or similar platforms)Experience with career and transfer advising, including knowledge of articulation agreements and transfer pathwayUnderstanding of MassEducate and MassReconnectAdditional Information:Salary Range: $80,066 is the starting salary of a Grade 06 position with a Master's Degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
