JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Cardiothoracic SurgeonJob Type: Locum TenensLocation: Fort Myers, FLService Setting: Inpatient / HospitalCoverage Type: Clinical + CallCoverage Period: 01/05/2026 OpenClinical Shift Schedule: Monday Friday, 6:45a 5:00pOn-Call Shift Schedule: Intermittent weeknight call (MonThu); Weekend call one weekend per monthCall Ratio: Distributed equitably across surgeons COVERAGE DATES01/05/2026 Open PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: AdultsAdmissions: YesRounding: Included; all rounding done with an APPPhone Consults: YesCase Mix: Adult cardiothoracic surgical cases; inpatient surgical management FACILITY INFORMATION Specialty Backup Available: Cardiology, Surgery, CVICU CTS APP coverageSupport Staff Available: APPs, Surgical PAs PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURESInpatient cardiothoracic surgical casesPreoperative and postoperative roundingEmergent weekend surgical cases as needed JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active FL license requiredBoard: BC/BE in Cardiothoracic SurgeryDEA: Active DEA CertificationCertifications: BLS/ACLS as applicableExperience: Cardiothoracic surgery experience requiredOther Qualifications: Ability to collaborate with APPs; Lee Health Signed Attestation, Clean NPDB report DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform inpatient cardiothoracic surgical casesConduct preoperative and postoperative rounding with APP supportCosign APPcreated progress notes and consult notes; add surgeon notes as neededProvide weekend rounding (approximately one weekend per month)Cover emergent weekend OR cases and respond to new consultsParticipate in night call rotation (MonThu) as assignedRespond to ER, CVICU, and PAinitiated calls when escalated
