Job DetailsDescriptionWe are seeking energetic, outgoing team players to provide expert fitness instruction and personal attention to members in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment. Our awesome fitness staff works with a diverse population every day to promote health and wellness and support the fitness goals of all our members.Position SummaryThese general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Fitness Coach provides basic fitness assessments and customer service to members in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement.Essential Functions Help clients set and meet basic goals to improve their fitness by performing fitness assessments. Communicate and coordinate with clients and respond to inquiries. Maintain working knowledge of fitness trends and equipment to provide effective information and support to members. Maintain safe fitness center environment and report damaged equipment. Maintain accurate records as required. Maintain all relevant certifications, including first aid related and professional exercise certifications. Maintain professional appearance and a healthy lifestyle. Actively participate in workshops, trainings and staff meetings as directed by the supervisor. Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, such as emergency respondent protocol. Support special events, assist in other areas, and perform other duties as required.Work Environment & Physical DemandsPhysically perform all skills required of a fitness coach.
