Personal experience in substance use disorder recovery is required. By offering outreach, encouragement and support, the Peer Recovery Support Specialist cultivates and secures a connection with the enrolled individual, while teaching personal responsibility and serving as a mentor and role model. As part of their job duties, the Peer Recovery Support Specialist will be asked to provide direct services to individuals in the areas of outreach and engagement, personal assistance in the completion of daily living skills, linkage to community supports, and in-home services. It is also designed to assist clients identify and move “barriers” aside that prevent them from their recovery goals. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist is trained to empower clients that are engaged in non-residential treatment services. Daily use of computer, phone, and other general office and treatment facility equipment. Lifting (max 25 pounds), able to climb stairs, minimal reaching, bending and stooping.
