In addition, our medical center is home to many Centers of Excellence, offering expert outpatient health care.Job DescriptionThe Infection Control Practitioner assists in the day-to-day management of the hospital-wide infection control program. This program is designed to identify, control, and prevent hospital-associated infections among patients. It is a coordinated process designed to reduce the risk of the spread of communicable diseases between patients and staff. The program is of a dual nature involving the clinical aspects of patient care and the biosafety components of occupational safety and health. The Infection Control Practitioner is a member of the hospital Infection Control Committee and, in conjunction with the Infection Prevention Director, has the authority and responsibility to institute appropriate control measures or conduct epidemiological studies, where there is reasonable risk to patients and/or personnel.MissionAll employees are responsible for extending the mission and values of Baltimore Washington Medical Center by dedicating oneself to providing the highest quality healthcare services to the communities we serve.Reporting RelationshipsReports to the Infection Control DirectorQualificationsEducation:Degree from an accredited School of Nursing, Medical Technology, or a related field or equivalentOR Masters of Public HealthCertificationsCurrent license in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse or certification as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory ScientistAt least two (2) years of clinical experienceCertification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc (CBIC) or taken within 2 years of hireExperience In Infection Prevention And Control (preferred)At least 3-5 years’ experience as an RN, Medical Technologist, or EpidemiologistPay Range: 38.6700- 58.0500/hrAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Like many employers, UMMS is being targeted by cybercriminals impersonating our recruiters and offering fake job opportunities.
