About the Role:
Dimensional is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to join its Data Distribution team. This role supports the firm’s enterprise investment data warehouse, which serves Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, Analytics, and Reporting functions. The Senior Python Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable data applications and services. The position involves optimizing data pipelines, building reliable data-transfer solutions, and applying modern engineering practices to improve data quality, performance, security, and availability. The successful candidate will work with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver effective data solutions while supporting production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and deliver investment data technology solutions for Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, Analytics, and Reporting
- Design, develop, test, and deliver data technology solutions while balancing development speed and quality
- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and project managers to define user stories, estimates, and work plans
- Work independently while advising business clients and IT management on technology capabilities and recommending strategies for adopting new technologies
- Design and implement data pipeline improvements across ingestion, validation, quality control, integration, storage, management, and delivery
- Write unit and integration tests, contribute to engineering documentation, and maintain detailed technical records
- Develop high-performance, scalable data-transfer tools that reliably move datasets between endpoints within established service-level agreements
- Maintain data consistency, refresh rates, and caching requirements across interfaces to keep data current
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines and develop maintainable, supportable solutions
- Participate in code reviews and technical design reviews
- Provide technical troubleshooting and production support for existing systems
- Apply engineering and security best practices when designing and implementing data applications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience4–5 years of programming experience with Python or equivalent
- Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and web services4–5 years of SQL experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply SOLID principles and Domain-Driven Design
- Experience developing high-performance, highly available data applications, including performance optimization and tuning
- Experience with automated acceptance testing and writing maintainable, unit-tested code
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity risks and the ability to design and build secure applications
- Experience working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment to deliver software solutions
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations for highly available services
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies in software development and integration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in implementing and optimizing NoSQL databases
- Ability to work across multiple programming languages and platforms
- Knowledge of or experience in the financial services industry
- Experience with Kafka, Airflow, PostgreSQL, Ansible, Elastic Stack, RabbitMQ, Redis, Docker, Okta, OAuth2, or PlainIDLocation and Work Arrangement
