AAU/Club Basketball Head Coach & Mentor

Pro Skills Basketball (PSB) is Portland's premier youth basketball club, and we are looking for the best coaches and mentors in the area to become the next head coaches of our Club/AAU Teams based in the Portland area! PSB Club/AAU Team coaches are high-character individuals with a passion for mentoring, leading, and educating children as well as a strong knowledge of basketball. They form transformational relationships with players and parents that are about more than just basketball and are not simply transactional. This is a part-time position with on-court hours performed primarily 2 evenings per week for practices (1.5 hours/practice) and 1-2 weekends per month for tournaments/leagues (2-4 games/weekend) as well as 1-2 hours per week dedicated to electronic communication with team families. More hours are also available if willing and able to coach more than one team as well as work other PSB workouts, clinics, and camps. More About the Position: Team Coaches report directly to City General Managers and/or City Directors. For our best coaches, there is potential for growth and promotion inside and outside of PSB. The ideal candidate: Possesses a strong growth mindset Is a good teammate and has a strong desire to be a part of a coaching team Believes in the educational experience of youth sports and prioritizes educational experiences over wins & losses Possesses strong mentorship and leadership skills Clearly and positively communicates with kids and adults Strives to become a better mentor, leader and coach Possesses strong organizational skills Our Team Coaches have the following responsibilities: Learn and adhere to PSB policies and procedures. Coach and develop players with a philosophy that aligns with PSB’s mission and values. Communicate regularly with team families concerning logistics and all team activities. Be consistently engaged with PSB stakeholders and address concerns quickly, with a positive attitude. Travel to various local practice gyms and tournaments as assigned. Work with PSB management to ensure that all events have appropriate PSB staff coverage in the event of an absence.
