Android / WearOS Developer

We’re looking for an Android / Wear OS Engineer to help design, build, and scale the mobile experiences that power our wearable ecosystem. In this role, you’ll work closely with hardware, firmware, backend, and product teams to create reliable, intuitive applications that run both on Android phones and Wear OS devices. You’ll play a key role in translating sensor data into meaningful, user-friendly experiences. Whether that’s background health monitoring, device connectivity, or polished UI flows that just work. This is a hands on role with real ownership and the opportunity to influence both product direction and technical architecture. Responsibilities Develop high-quality Android applications with a focus on WearOS devices, ensuring optimal performance and usability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather user research insights and translate them into intuitive UI/UX designs. Implement robust application architectures using design patterns such as MVC and OOP principles. Integrate RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and web services to enable seamless data exchange between applications and backend systems. Write clean, efficient code using Java and Kotlin, utilizing SDKs and development tools like Android Studio and Visual Studio. Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality deliverables. Follow Agile methodologies, utilizing tools like Jira, GitHub, Jenkins, and SVN for version control and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD). Participate in user research sessions to gather feedback that informs iterative improvements in UI/UX design. Maintain comprehensive documentation of codebases, APIs, and development processes to support team collaboration. Qualifications Proven experience in Android development with a strong portfolio of published apps for WearOS devices. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Kotlin for mobile application development. Familiarity with design patterns like MVC and best practices in UI/UX design tailored for wearable devices. Experience working with SDKs for Android Strong knowledge of debugging techniques and unit testing frameworks such as JUnit or similar tools. Experience with version control systems including Git or SVN Ability to work within Agile environments using tools like Jira Comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
