OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations across several regional office locations. This role partners closely with operational leadership to ensure financial accuracy, strong internal controls, and strategic financial planning across multiple active projects.The Division Controller will lead accounting operations, ensure compliance with GAAP, and provide financial insight to support project performance, forecasting, and long-term business growth.ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesFinancial LeadershipOversee all divisional accounting operations including general ledger, job cost accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reportingEnsure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPManage the division's month-end and year-end close processesDevelop and maintain strong internal controls and financial proceduresProject & Operational FinancePartner with project managers and operational leaders to monitor project financial performanceReview job cost reports, WIP schedules, and project forecastsSupport project budgeting, cost tracking, and margin analysisPlanning & AnalysisLead divisional budgeting and forecasting processesAnalyze financial results and provide insights on performance variancesDevelop financial models to support operational and strategic decision-makingProvide regular financial reporting to executive leadershipProvide financial guidance on large geotechnical engineering projectsCompliance & Process ImprovementEnsure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and industry standardsSupport external audits and internal financial reviewsIdentify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiencyTeam LeadershipManage and mentor accounting staffPartner with corporate finance leadership to align financial processes and reportingQualificationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA preferred7–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experiencePrior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting ManagerStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingExperience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, or project-based industries strongly preferredExperience with job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognitionStrong analytical, leadership, and communication skillsIn-office position in Birmingham, ALMinimal travel may be requiredWhat Success Looks LikeAccurate and timely financial reporting across the divisionStrong partnership with operations to improve project financial outcomesImproved visibility into job cost performance and profitabilityWell-established financial controls and scalable processes to support growthJOB ID: IND123
