Join us on this meaningful journey where your skills, compassion and dedication will make a remarkable difference in the lives of those we serve.How you'll contributeA Cook who excels in this role will be able to be responsible:Assists with preparing food and beverages for distribution to patients, guests, service/dining areas, and catering services.Stores food, beverages, and supplies in designated containers and areas according to policies and procedures.Assists with customer-facing duties as assigned, including meal tray delivery and catering special events.Assists with sanitation duties, including dishwashing and maintaining work and food service areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.Essential FunctionsPrepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, staff, visitors, and special functionsReviews menus to determine types and quantities of food neededPrepares quality food in sufficient quantities to cover all service requirementsCoordinates timing of preparation in order to meet service schedules for patients, staff and visitorsAdheres to standardized recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control food costProvides maintenance and sanitation of equipment in food production areasAdheres to sanitation and food safety standards (HACCP)Participates in the process of ordering suppliesGives direction to personnel assisting in food preparationUtilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilitiesOrients and mentors new staff membersFollows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as necessaryOther duties as assignedWhy join usWe believe that investing in our employees is the first step to providing excellent patient care. Also, must re-certify every 3 years.Skills:Excellent customer service skills including effective listening skillsBasic math skills are requiredKnowledge of food sanitation and safety (HACCP Servsafe Certificate)Knowledge of food quality through the use of established procedures and guidelinesFamiliarity with organization and functions of each hospital departmentAbility to motivate personnel, problem-solve effectively and handle stress in a positive mannerMaintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital departmentsMore about Los Alamos Medical CenterAt Los Alamos Medical Center, we work hard to provide high quality care that's continuously recognized for excellence.
