Pay Basis Monthly Job SummaryThis Chief Medical Technologist is responsible for the technical and day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory, supervision of the medical technologists, phlebotomists, and student workers, following all federal and state regulations and COLA and AAAHC accreditation standards.The annual salary for this position ranges from $65,000 – $71,000. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerform CLIA waived and moderate complexity test procedures, including phlebotomy, microscopy, rapid testing in microbiology, immunology, and serology. Perform quality control, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on analyzers as needed. Perform quality control on new lots and shipments.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting standards. Prepare for and meet with surveyors for on-site COLA and AAAHC site visits. Initiate, maintain, and edit laboratory policies and procedures.Ensure the lab is enrolled in proficiency testing for in-house testing. Evaluate employee testing performance.Provide training on newly introduced testing procedures, ensuring competency.Select test methodology appropriate for the clinical menu, and establish accuracy and precision metrics for each test.Formally supervise the laboratory staff, including the medical technicians, phlebotomist(s), and student workers. Participate in hiring and onboarding new laboratory staff.Order and pay for lab supplies to ensure adequate stocking. Reconcile reference lab bills, ensuring accuracy. Work with the reference lab point of contact to ensure fair pricing for students, resolution of testing, billing, or other issues.Participate in Health Services’ Providers, Risk Management, and Quality Improvement Committees.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsAssociate’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science or clinical laboratory science.Four (4) years of laboratory training or experience. Certified by ASCP or AMT.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in laboratory science.Two (2) years of laboratory training or experience.
