Telecom Construction Lead / Supervisor – Texas Region.

Overview: CDL Utilities has an immediate opening for a skilled and reliable Telecom Construction Lead / Supervisor – Texas Region. CDL Utilities is seeking an experienced, hands-on construction professional to oversee daily field operations and lead crews across active telecom infrastructure projects throughout Texas. This is a high-impact role ideal for a working leader who: Thrives in the field Leads by example Takes ownership of production and safety Maintains strong quality standards Drives accountability across job sites As a Telecom Construction Lead / Supervisor, you will: Oversee underground and aerial telecom construction activities Support Project Managers in field execution Ensure safety, quality, and production targets are consistently met Represent CDL Utilities professionally with clients and municipalities Key Responsibilities: Field Leadership & Crew Supervision: Lead daily operations for underground and aerial telecom crews Assign tasks and manage daily production goals Monitor job performance and hold crews accountable Actively work alongside crews when needed Conduct daily morning job briefings and safety meetings Project Execution & Oversight: Oversee trenching, conduit installation, and backfill operations Coordinate handhole, vault, and pedestal placement Support directional bore (HDD) operations Manage aerial strand, lash, and cable placement Assist with fiber installation and basic field troubleshooting Ensure all work aligns with approved construction drawings and customer standards Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA standards and CDL Utilities’ safety policies Verify utility mark-outs prior to excavation Ensure proper traffic control setup Monitor PPE compliance on job sites Identify and address unsafe conditions immediately Quality Control & Reporting: Perform routine jobsite quality inspections Track daily production quantities Submit accurate daily field reports Communicate delays, damages, or field conflicts to management Participate in final project walk-throughs and closeouts Customer & Municipal Coordination: Interface with customer representatives and inspectors Coordinate with municipal officials when required Support permitting compliance in the field Represent CDL Utilities professionally at all times Equipment & Material Management: Ensure proper staging of materials and tools Monitor equipment usage and report maintenance concerns Maintain organized and productive job sites Other Responsibilities: Travel regularly throughout Texas (overnight travel required as needed) Assist with scheduling utility mark-outs and permit coordination Review and interpret HFC and FTTH system prints Identify constructability issues before impacting production timelines Support restoration efforts including concrete, asphalt, and landscape repairs Work outdoors in varying weather conditions Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: 5+ years of telecommunications construction experience (Required) 5+ years of underground and/or aerial construction experience (Required) 3+ years of crew supervision or leadership experience (Required) Strong understanding of: Underground utilities Aerial construction methods Conduit placement Fiber optic installation Restoration practices Ability to read and interpret: Engineering drawings Utility maps Fiber designs Experience working in right-of-way (ROW) environments Strong leadership and communication skills Excellent time management and organizational skills Proficiency in: Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Outlook Ability to maintain accurate documentation and production tracking Authorized to work in the United States Must pass drug, criminal, and background checks Valid Driver’s License (Required) CDL (Preferred) Bilingual English/Spanish (Preferred) Benefit Conditions: Only full-time employees eligible Hours per week: 40–60 This Job Is: A job for which military experienced candidates are encouraged to apply Work Remotely: No Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Experience: Telecommunications construction: 5 years (Required) Underground and/or aerial construction: 5 years (Required) Crew leadership or supervision: 3 years (Required) Fiber optic installation: 1 year (Preferred) Language: Spanish (Preferred) License/Certification: Driver’s License (Required) CDL (Preferred) Willingness to travel: 75–100% (Required) Work Location: In person (Texas Region) Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $80,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Paid time off Vision insurance Application Question(s): Do you have experience in underground construction?
