Water Well Driller
Water Well Drillers are responsible for safety and productivity of all crew members and machinery. They are also responsible for the daily tasks related to the installation process of water wells. These include, but are not limited to: job site supervision and project management, drill rigs and machine operation, transporting heavy trucks to the job with tools and materials, setting rigs and equipment up to perform work, and the construction and/or decommissioning of water wells on a job site. Water Well Drillers are also responsible for ensuring daily maintenance of the drilling equipment and trucks is conducted (his includes greasing and fueling machines, conducting pre-trip inspections, etc), ensuring job sites and trucks are kept clean, and perform collection of drill cuttings on site and keeping written records of job site activities.
Essential Daily Duties & Responsibilities:
Regularly supervises and directs the work of two or more other full-time employees
Maintain records of footage drilled, location and nature of strata penetrated, materials and tools used, services rendered, and time required.
Direct rig crews in drilling and other activities, such as setting up rigs to drill, constructed wells or to service/rehab wells or plug abandon well/boreholes.
Monitor progress of drilling operations and select and change drilling process as conditions and schedule changes require an communicating with project manager/customer
Verify for underground utilities and inspect for overhead utilities. Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to drilling activities.
Assists with the collection of labeling and storing of samples.
Responsible for safety and productivity of drilling staff.
Operate machinery to drill and install wells.
Clean heavy equipment as scheduled.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
Maintain a clean and presentable workplace.
Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Store heavy equipment safely and securely.
Responsible for the safe and accurate set up of rig and all equipment.
Operate drilling rig and associated equipment to drill water wells, install well heads, well screen, casing, gravel pack and cement grout, bentonite grout and plug wells.
Document geological formations encountered.
Perform routine mechanical maintenance work on drilling rig and equipment.
Ensure correct materials for projects are available for installation as needed.
Assist & monitor purchasing of inventory, parts and supplies for drilling
