Transfer Admission Counselor

Responsible for recruitment/enrollment initiatives in an assigned transfer territory. Specifically informs, advises, and counsels prospective students, secondary schools, community colleges, and other organizations about Elmhurst University. The admission counselor will generate and convert prospects through the enrollment funnel by providing counseling through the recruitment cycle. Seeks opportunities for expanded recruitment contacts, participates in various recruiting events, and positively contributes to the attainment of new student enrollment goals.Position Status: ExemptSalary Range: $42,000-$45,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.ResponsibilitiesBuilds relationships with prospective students and families for the purpose of informing them about University programs, admission and financial aid proceduresPresents to various groups about University, admission and financial aid opportunitiesPlans and executes a schedule of visits and communication with contacts in an assigned territory with community colleges being a priorityRecommends admission and scholarship decisions in an assigned territoryCreates and maintains effective, positive relationships with territorial contacts through general application of customer service and sales techniques. Participates in on-campus visitation programs sponsored by the Admission OfficeResponds to inquiries and handles correspondence with prospective students in a timely and effective mannerAssists with general administrative, and at times clerical duties as assigned by enrollment supervisorsAssumes responsibility for auxiliary program assignments such as student ambassador coordinator, alumni admission or faculty liaisonTravels to assigned territory while maintaining stewardship of resourcesSeeks and maintains knowledge about general admission practices and industry trendsUtilizes CRM to run queries, tracks prospects' progress through the enrollment process, and makes data driven decisions within territoryFollows strategies outlined in yearly recruitment plan within assigned territory to aid in meeting territory goals. RequirementsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree requiredWell-developed skills in verbal/written communicationUnderstanding of higher education, in particular of private liberal arts colleges and their missionThe ability to project a positive image of the University in an organized, accurate mannerGrasp of admission, financial aid procedures and available academic opportunitiesMust be responsive and adaptable to a fast-paced environment and fluctuating responsibilitiesValid Driver's LicenseAbility to travel locally, and in designated out-of-area territories, and to work evening and weekend hours when assignedWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsThe essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
