Entry level Propane Technician

About us Mountain Propane Service is a local family-owned energy company. We specialize in residential service and delivery of propane and its systems and appliances. We are dedicated to our community and to advancing our industry's commitment to renewable resources. We are looking for an assistant for our current tank setter, someone who is willing to learn and grow in to, and eventually, take over the role. This is a full-time position with lots of opportunity for overtime. Our ideal candidate would be a quick learner, have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE and be willing to work hard. PLEASE COMPLETE ATTACHED TESTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. Some of the duties of a tank setter include: Deliver, set and install propane tanks and outside lines, conduct system tests and purge cylinders and tanks, repair and maintain company equipment and perform final inspections consistent with Company standards. Maintain related documentation. Ensure that Company and Government safety, policy and regulatory standards are met. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair gas-fired equipment, appliances, and distribution systems. Repair and maintain company equipment such as pumps, regulators and vaporizers. Set, repair and maintain tanks and cylinders install outside and inside lines, conduct system tests and perform system inspections. Purge propane cylinders and tanks, fill storage containers and perform basic outside leak repair. Maintain service vehicle. Review maintenance record, perform pre- and post-trip inspections. Report all vehicle conditions requiring attention for continued safe operation and proper vehicle maintenance. Follow dispatch policy and procedures. Coordinate with the dispatcher to confirm the route and ensure that adequate fuel and supplies are on hand. Deliver fuel as required. Follow loading and unloading procedures. Secure truck and equipment consistent with security policy. May estimate jobs and obtain required permits. Observe, learn and apply the knowledge and skills handed down from more experienced technicians, and provide guidance to less experienced technicians as appropriate. Other Job Specific Requirements Required to sustain continuous physical effort working with heavy materials (~75+ pounds) such as cylinders and hoses. Some exposure to noise, dust, heat and outside elements. Able to dig, climb, and access confined spaces. Extended and on-call hours required at times to support business requirements, including some weekends and holidays. Job Type: Full-time Job Location: Felton, CA and surrounding areas. Required experience: Positive attitude / Desire to learn. Some experience with basic tools. Decent math and reading aptitude. Must be able to pass CETP certification and HAZMAT certification tests. Enjoy being outside, and making a difference in the community. Experience with customer service a huge plus. Required license or certification: Ability to obtain a class B CDL if needed (we will train) We will pay higher for someone with a cdl Clean Driving record. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening The wage listed is Depending on experience. We provide merit-based raises on a pre-determined schedule.
