Yard Spotter
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to work an average 40-hour work week, however, some overtime may be required
Responsible for the safety of the staff and drivers in and around the yard and the safe efficient operation of the yard
Must be able to manage the yard
Ensure all security policies are followed
Requires good communication skills as this person will communicate with drivers and dispatch staff regarding load arrivals and/or departures.
Basic computer skills needed, as this person will be entering data into reports
Required to know and understand DOT and CTPAT documents such as Bill of Ladings and Conveyance Forms.
Will be performing trailer inspections and sealing trailers
Although a CDL is not required, must have valid driver’s license for moving trailers in and out of doors when needed
Must be okay with working outside in the elements – cold/hot/rain/snow, etc.
Log all truck and trailer arrivals and departures
Education: o Although High School Diploma is not required, it is preferred.
Communication:
o Communicate with appropriate personnel about problems encountered while performing job duties.
o In-person interaction with supervisor.
o Communication with drivers and office dispatch staff.
Environment: o Work in a distribution environment with exposure to noise, possible temperature extremes, dirt, solvents, paper dust, etc.
Dependability:
o Maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct. Work 1st shift and overtime as required. • Hours: o 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM o 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM when overtime is needed
