IIOT Field Service Engineer (Contractor - 1 year)
We are partnering with a global industrial technology company that delivers advanced IIoT solutions to major process and manufacturing plants across Europe. To support their growth, we are looking for a hands-on IIoT Field Service Engineer who can own end-to-end installation, integration, and ongoing technical engagement at customer sites.What you will doField Implementation & CommissioningInstall and commission IIoT devices and edge gateways on customer sites (sensors, cabling, junction boxes, communication devices).Connect devices into existing PLC / SCADA / DCS and plant networks, ensuring robust data collection and communication.Integrate hardware and software components into existing plant systems and support go-live activities.Troubleshoot installation and communication issues on-site and remotely until systems are stable in production.Rotating Equipment & Process UnderstandingWork with rotating machines such as motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and other mechanical systems in process plants.Map the predictive maintenance solution to critical assets and relevant measurement points.Understand key mechanical and process parameters (e.g. vibration, temperature, FFT-based indicators) and how they affect plant performance and uptime.Collaborate closely with customer maintenance and operations teams to reduce failures and maximize availability.Data, Insights & Customer EngagementLiaise with central analytics / Center of Excellence teams to interpret diagnostic reports and dashboards.Explain technical findings and recommended actions to customer engineering and maintenance teams in a clear, business-oriented way.Conduct regular review calls with customers to ensure they are using the insights effectively and realizing tangible reliability and performance improvements.Cross-functional Collaboration & TrainingWork closely with sales, customer success and technical support teams to ensure successful deployments and expansions.Support ROI discussions with customer stakeholders by linking technical results to business impact (downtime reduction, throughput, maintenance costs).Deliver on-site and remote training sessions for customer teams to drive adoption of the platform and tools.What you bringMust-haves8+ years of experience in automation, industrial IIoT, field service or similar roles in industrial environments.Strong hands-on experience on the shop floor, including installation and commissioning of sensors, control panels, and communication devices.Solid understanding of industrial networks and communication architectures (e.g. Ethernet, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, other industrial protocols).Experience integrating with PLC / SCADA / DCS / Historian systems in process or manufacturing plants.Practical exposure to rotating equipment (motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.) and basic condition monitoring concepts.Good understanding of maintenance and operations in process industries (e.g. chemicals, energy, manufacturing, heavy industry).Strong analytical mindset: ability to interpret technical reports and trends and translate them into actionable recommendations for customers.Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable dealing with engineers, maintenance teams and management at customer sites.High mobility and flexibility: willingness to travel up to 80% across Europe and Türkiye; comfortable working independently in the field.Valid EU or UK passport and ability to travel freely within Europe (no sponsorship available).Nice-to-havesExperience with predictive maintenance, condition monitoring or reliability engineering.Familiarity with vibration analysis, FFT, temperature trending and similar diagnostics.Background with leading sensor / automation / condition monitoring vendors.Experience in a customer-facing role (field service, application engineering, technical consulting).
