Classroom Assistant | Independence, Missouri

A school district in Independence, MO, is seeking experienced paraprofessionals to provide per diem support within special education classrooms. This contract role offers the opportunity to assist students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, including working 1:1 or as a classroom aide across elementary, middle, and high school settings.Key Responsibilities:Support students in SPED classrooms, including those with behavior challenges and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)Assist with toileting and other personal care as neededProvide 1:1 assistance or general classroom supportCover call outs and fill shifts on a flexible, as-needed basis through a mobile app platformAdapt to varying schedules depending on school level (elementary, middle, or high)Qualifications:Active Substitute or Paraprofessional certification from DESE (must be current at start)Experience working in schools with students requiring behavioral supportAbility to complete district-specific fingerprinting prior to startComfort working with diverse student needs and maintaining professional boundariesSchedule & Location:Per diem, with shifts available 1 to 5 days per week based on daily call outsElementary hours typically 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Middle school 7:00 am - 2:30 pm; High school 7:30 am - 3:00 pmAssigned to one of 33 schools within the district, primarily elementary sitesCompensation:$24.50 per hour, paid only for hours workedThis role suits paraprofessionals seeking flexible work within a supportive school environment who are skilled in behavior management and student assistance.
