Cook - NEW Crisis Receiving Center

Job Description Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)Location: Lynchburg, VA 24504Position Summary:The Cook will assist in planning meals; ordering and restocking food, beverages, and kitchen supplies; ensuring that food meets Horizon&#39;s high-quality standards; the serving of customers; and maintenance of a clean kitchen and dining area. The Cook provides meals to consumers residing in the Horizon Detox Unit, Crisis Stabilization Unit and the Recovery House.Required Education and Experience:Knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to that of a high school graduate are required.An equivalent combination of training and personal experience that provides the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.Experience in institutional foodservice and menu planning is preferred.Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of food preparation best practices, cooking techniques, and sanitation standards; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to food safety and compliance with VA&#39;s Health Department&#39;s regulations; Knowledge of daily dietary requirements for individuals in recovery to ensure every meal is healthy and nutritional; Skills to communicate effectively in order to facilitate excellent customer service; and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver&#39;s license.
