We specialize in the bulk transportation of diesel, jet fuel, and various grades of asphalt, earning a reputation for quality products and exceptional customer service while valuing our employees as our greatest asset.*Summary*We are seeking a Senior Diesel Mechanic to join our dedicated team at Blue Line Transportation. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel engines and related systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting our commitment to quality service in the transportation industry. The work schedule is Noon - 10PM Tuesday - Friday*Responsibilities* Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related systems. Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Conduct inspections on vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards. Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, and other components. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as needed for repairs. Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance processes and procedures. Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.Responsibilities Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily Other minor duties may be assigned Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures Performs preventive maintenance inspections and ensures the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection Performs proficient inspection, diagnosis and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment Strong organizational and communication skills with an ability to learn from mistakes Provides assistance, guidance and direction to other maintenance personnel Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs Estimates time and material costs on repairs and orders needed parts Advises supervisor immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the Standard Repair Times (SRTs) Inspects the quality of outside/supplier repairs and or rebuilds Assesses structural damage and assigns needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s) Conducts safety checks on vehicles Performs maintenance related work as required Education: No education required Experience: Four (4) years of relevant work experienceCertificates, Licenses, Registrations Or Other Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Valid driver's license and must have a clean driving record and be insurable by company insurance Legally eligible to work in the United States Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and physical (DOT) Skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment Skill in repair of special purpose equipment, ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks Ability to diagnose defects in and repair a variety of equipment and vehicles Ability to utilize fleet maintenance software program Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day; Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds most of the work day; Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) often; Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often;Job Type: Full-timePay: $33.00 - $40.00 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off Vision insuranceExperience: heavy diesel mechanics: 3 years (Preferred)Ability to Commute: Portland, OR 97217 (Required)Work Location: In person
