OVERVIEW
Job Title: Student Office & Orientation Operations Intern
Locations: St. Paul
Pay Rate: $17/hour
Hours: 30 hours per week from May - August 2026
JOB SUMMARY
The Dean of Students Office Student Office Assistant is the first point of contact for students, families, faculty, and staff within the Dean of Students Office. Student workers will aid the Dean of Students Office with administrative tasks and projects.
Student workers will gain working experience in customer service, build professional development and leadership skills, and network with faculty, staff, and fellow students, all with the flexibility and convenience of working on campus.
Student workers are required to sign a confidentiality agreement upon hire.
Responsibilities
Responsible for answering the phone. Following training, will be responsible for transferring calls, taking messages, and triaging calls for importance and urgency.
Responsible for greeting visitors to the Dean of Students Office and asking how they may aid.
Responsible for some of the operational aspects of the Orientation and Registration programs
Call students to facilitate the orientation sign-up process and assist students in need of navigation of the sign-up process.
Organize reports to create check-in sheets, small group sheets, and generate lists of students and guests for nametag creation.
Greet students and families, answer questions, and help students and guests navigate through the Orientation schedule.
Assist with administrative projects and tasks as assigned.
This position involves detailed data entry work.
Additional projects as assigned related to the Dean of Students Office
QUALIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS
Familiar with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Canva, and Adobe.
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work independently.
Ability to keep information and situations confidential.
Possess excellent communication, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Must be dependable and responsible.
Ability to maintain professionalism and ability to deal with students, faculty, staff, and families of students.
Must be an enrolled and degree-seeking student at the University of St. Thomas.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
