Division Chief, Pediatric Infectious Diseases

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a new Division Chief. With 1002 beds spread across four campuses, a diverse patient population, and the proximity to Latin American, practitioners are presented with a wide array of challenging clinical scenarios ranging from common diseases to life-threatening infections. The clinical cases that are encountered drive the academic career of many of the members of the Division. The faculty conduct clinical and basic science research to better understand the pathophysiology of pediatric infectious diseases, evaluate new diagnostics/therapeutics, and identify interventions to prevent disease. Current funding in the Division exceeds $2 million /year in grants and contracts. The Division has an ACGME approved fellowship program which takes up to 3 fellows per year and in addition supports a one-year subspecialty fellowship in pediatric transplant infectious diseases. The faculty have served in leadership positions of pediatric and infectious disease professional societies as well as in advisory positions for the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and the Food and Drug Administration.Candidates must be board certified in Pediatric Infectious Disease by the American Board of Pediatrics or must have equivalent training or certification. They should be qualified for a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at the rank of Associate Professor or above at Baylor College of Medicine (at the rank of Professor desired, but Associate Professors with at least 10 years of experience post fellowship will be considered).
