Flat Laser Operator
General Summary
The Flat Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining flat laser cutting machines to produce high-quality parts according to engineering drawings and production schedules. This role ensures efficient operation, accurate cuts, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Functions
Set up and operate flat laser cutting machines (e.g., fiber or CO2 lasers)
Load and unload raw materials such as sheet metal
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
Verify correct programs, material type, thickness, and cut parameters
Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met
Remove finished parts and perform basic deburring as required
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Meet production deadlines while minimizing scrap and downtime
Physical Requirements:
Moves parts weighing up to 80 pounds.
Occasional squatting, sitting, kneeling, and overhead reaching.
Exposure to noise – continuously
Continuously operating machinery with buttons, levers, and switches.
Lifting parts above the shoulder and requiring 80 pounds of force to initiate movement.
Standing, Twisting, Walking – frequently
Continuous standing and walking on concrete surfaces

Expectations:
You will be expected to obtain the tools listed as Minimum Required Tools for your classification. Regular attendance and starting on time are essential. Responsible for the quality of own work and not to accept poor quality workmanship from others.
