This is an excellent opportunity for a technician looking to practice high-quality medicine alongside a supportive and highly skilled team.If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working closely with veterinarians to provide exceptional patient care, we would love to meet you.Schedule RequirementsWe are specifically seeking coverage for the following schedule needs:Monday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Surgery Technician)Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PMWednesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PMThursday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Off when working Saturdays)Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Surgery Technician)Every other Saturday requiredA Day in the LifeAssist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures while maintaining efficient workflow throughout the hospitalPrepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental proceduresSupport dentistry procedures including dental cleanings, dental radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recoveryProvide attentive nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients including medication administration, monitoring, IV catheter placement, and fluid therapyPerform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples for laboratory testingOperate diagnostic equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound support, and in-house laboratory analyzersMaintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, and patient documentationCommunicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and post-operative careCollaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and maintain a positive hospital cultureSupport and mentor veterinary assistants and newer team members when neededSkills & RequirementsLicensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Virginia preferred, or RVT/LVT/CVT currently licensed in another state with the ability to transfer licensure to Virginia within 6 months or lessStrong experience in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and treatment flow preferredConfident client communication skills and ability to multitask in a busy hospital settingStrong knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology, and patient care standardsAbility to compassionately handle and restrain animals, including fearful or stressed patientsProficiency with veterinary software and medical documentationPhysical ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizesBenefitsCompensation$30.00 – $35.00/hour based on experience, credentials, and skillsetBenefits for Full-Time TeammatesComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceEmployer-paid life insurance and disability coverageEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Four (4) weeks of paid time off annuallyTwo (2) floating holidaysContinuing Education opportunitiesPersonalized development and career growth plansTuition assistance/student loan support$150 annual uniform allowanceDiscounted pet careIndustry-leading Paid Parental Leave401(k) with company matchAbout Our HospitalCompanion Animal Clinic is a full-service companion animal hospital located in Fairfax Station, Virginia.
