At MRDC, we aim to foster an intimate and stimulating environment for our canine campers. Therefore, we offer a low dog-to-staff ratio that allows our counselors to connect with canine campers on a personal level and engage in enrichment activities designed to provide interactive fun and companionship. In addition, we pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of quality care for both our day campers and overnight lodgers; eagerness to go above and beyond in ensuring that our canine campers receive exemplary accommodations during their time with us is an absolute must.Position Duties and Responsibilities:Observe and monitor groups of dogs to ensure that camper safety is rigorously maintained at all timesThoroughly clean and disinfect all dens, cabins, and play yards on a daily basis to ensure camper safety and hygienePerform general facility cleaning on a daily basis, including pet dishes and laundryBe comfortable and confident handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and temperamentsBe comfortable working outdoors in various types of weather all year longBe comfortable preparing meals, feeding and medicating dogs according to specific guidelinesReport any maintenance/behavioral issues to the team leaderActively listen and communicate with fellow team members and clientsWillingness to communicate with clients about their pets and provide photos and videos of their stayNecessary Skills:Ability to take initiativeAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to work reliably and independentlyAbility to follow instructions and facility protocolsAbility to multi-taskAbility to adapt quickly to changeAbility to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment Our amazing team at Mills River Dog Camp plays hard, but we work hard too—Physical Requirements:Ability to lift or carry up to 30+ lbs.Ability to push or pull up to 30+ lbs.Ability to reach overheadAbility to control and withstand resistance from dogs of all sizes on leashAbility to walk or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to squat and kneelPosition Requirements: Experience working in animal care is preferred but not required. Must be able to work some weekends. Must be willing to work some holidays (they're so much fun at camp!) And above all, you must love dogs!
