Assistant Mechanical Estimator

Position Summary This position is responsible for completing HVAC/Plumbing estimates including quantity takeoff, pricing labor with man-hours, pre-construction scheduling, obtaining material and pricing of general conditions, and conducting site visits for pre-bid meetings. This position is typically responsible for estimating jobs under $500k. The Assistant Mechanical Estimator is an individual with a positive attitude, motivation to drive success, and enjoys working independently or with a project team pushing industry competitive estimates backed with data. Position title and level will be commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. Job LocationThis position will be based at our Rolling Prairie, IN. office, remote work and flexible schedules will be considered.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesOutline project plans, forecast goals/milestones, and evaluate the performance of subcontractors and construction techniciansEstimate and prepare for execution of multiple construction projects simultaneouslyEnsure safety guidelines are taken into consideration on bid daysSolicit subcontractors and national equipment vendorsInterpret and comprehend contractual documentsMaintain project documentation filesPerform additional assignments as directed by local Operations Manager, Sr Estimators, or D.A. Dodd CorporatePreferred Knowledge & SkillsPrior experience using construction estimating software and systemProven experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals on-timeRequired Knowledge & SkillsProficient math and technology skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to multi-taskQualificationsBachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or other related business focus, or directly related work equivalent0 - 2 Years construction estimation experience requiredFLSA StatusThis is a full-time, exempt position.ReportingThis position reports to the VP Construction.*This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
