COOK I - BARRON CENTER Cook I Barron Center About the Barron Center: The Barron Center is a 219-bed, municipally operated, long-term and skilled care nursing home which includes a dementia unit. Job Summary: The Cook I prepares food in an industrial kitchen in accordance with detailed menus and resident needs. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the kitchen, including the pantry and various kitchen equipment. Daily Tasks: Preparing and cooking food Operating standard cooking equipment, including ranges, mixers, and choppers. Arranging tables, washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and supervising Food Service staff to complete these tasks Maintaining an orderly and clean kitchen Required Skills & Experience: High school diploma, or equivalent, required Must have working knowledge of large scale cooking practices and food preparation techniques Must possess valid Maine Class C driver's license Must complete a pre placement physical exam Preferred Skills & Experience: Supervisory experience preferred Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred Expected Hours/Schedule: This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week Available schedules on 5am-1pm and 11am-7pm shifts, with days off on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Salary & Benefits: This is a CEBA union position, Grade 6M, with a starting hourly rate of $21.33 - $24.46/hour, plus any applicable shift differentials.
