We anticipate significant growth in this market in the coming years.Security Engineer (SecOps – Detection Engineering & Security Monitoring)Reporting Manager: Director of SecOpsPrimary Mission: Design and operate security detection tools to protect enterprise environments and minimize operational riskKey ResponsibilitiesEngineer and maintain SIEM log ingestion, normalization, parsing, and enrichment pipelines.Maintain and validate EDR, IDS/IPS, firewall, DNS security, vulnerability scanners, and IAM telemetry sources.Build high-fidelity alert rules, analytics, and detection logic.Monitor SOC sensor health and host devices.Collaborate with SOC analysts to improve alert fidelity and signal quality.Contribute evidence and documentation for compliance frameworks.Produce documentation, runbooks, SIEM workflows, and dashboards.Perform structured client environment security reviews and provide prioritized recommendations.Maintain continuous communication and build relationships with assigned clients to ensure we build trust and are meeting their needs.Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)90-Day Outcomes: Meet all assigned clients, establish SIEM baselines, validate SOC sensor health, and review/understand SOC policies & documentation.6-Month Outcomes: Understand all assigned client environments, deliver high-value detection use cases, mature detection lifecycle, and improve SOC efficiency.12-Month Outcomes: Lead SIEM modernization, improve alert fidelity, and maintain audit-ready documentation.CompetenciesSIEM engineering, log pipeline management, and data modeling.Endpoint and network telemetry expertise.Detection engineering and analytic rule development.Compliance literacy.Collaborative and documentation-focused mindset.Key MetricsAlert fidelity: precision, noise reduction, false-positive rate.Coverage: telemetry completeness and detection coverage.System health: sensor uptime and pipeline reliability.Compliance readiness: monitoring documentation completeness.Ensure client satisfaction through feedback systems (CSAT)Qualifications4–7 years security engineering experience with SIEM/EDR/FW.Experience authoring detection logic.Familiarity with monitoring-related compliance frameworks.Experience with enterprise telemetry and SOC sensors.
