Junior Software Developer (Backend Focus)

About the Role The Computer Company is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our team. This role will focus primarily on backend development, including building APIs, integrating internal systems with third-party services, and supporting applications across our server and cloud environments. A significant part of this position involves troubleshooting complex integration issues. Problems may begin with limited information, requiring you to work methodically through application logs, API calls, databases, and infrastructure to identify the root cause. Candidates who enjoy investigating technical issues and solving problems across interconnected systems will be well suited for this role. This is a junior-level position, and we do not expect candidates to know everything on their first day. We place greater value on strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to approach problems methodically than on a specific number of years of experience. Responsibilities Design and build RESTful APIs. Integrate third-party APIs with existing systems. Trace issues across API calls, application logs, databases, and servers to identify root causes. Develop backend services using C# and .NET Core. Assist with Next.js frontend development when needed. Write and troubleshoot SQL queries and database logic. Help manage and deploy applications across Windows Server, Linux Server, and Azure Container Apps environments. Collaborate with the team on application design, architecture, and development standards. Qualifications Experience with C# and .NET Core through coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional work. Basic understanding of REST APIs. Ability to write SQL queries and work with relational databases. Willingness to work across both Windows and Linux environments. Strong and patient troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work systematically from incomplete information. Ability to ask effective follow-up questions when a user’s initial description does not provide enough information to diagnose the issue. Must be located in Connecticut and able to work onsite regularly, with some flexibility to work from home. Experience supporting non-technical users or working in a help desk or technical support role.
