Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Production Data Technician to play a vital role in our CNC department. This hybrid position combines hands-on machine tending with accurate production data entry and tracking, ensuring smooth operations, minimal downtime, and precise documentation. Ideal for candidates who enjoy a balance of active shop-floor work (interacting with automated machines and team members) and focused desk-based tasks (data accuracy and record-keeping). No prior CNC experience requiredcomprehensive on-the-job training provided.
This entry-to-mid-level role supports manufacturing efficiency by keeping machines running continuously while maintaining reliable production records for orders, inventory, quality, and completions.
Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Tending & Production Support
Load/unload raw materials and finished parts safely and efficiently.
Stage and supply materials, tools, and components to machines to prevent downtime.
Perform routine machine care (cleaning, lubricating, basic upkeep) and report issues.
Conduct visual inspections, basic measurements, and pull QC samples per instructions; report nonconformances.
Data Entry & Tracking
Accurately count finished parts and verify quantities against production orders.
Enter and update production order data, completions, statuses, and discrepancies in internal systems (ERP/MRP or similar).
Record QC results, inspection documentation, inventory, and work-in-process.
Close/complete orders in the system, reconcile counts, and organize digital/paper records for audits.
Identify/correct data errors; communicate with supervisors, planners, quality, and production teams for clarifications.
General
Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and address unsafe conditions immediately.
Work independently or collaboratively with minimal oversight while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask across hands-on and administrative duties.
Proficient with computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP/production systems a plus.
Basic problem-solving; quick learner for manufacturing workflows, blueprints, and measuring tools (calipers, gauges).
Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to follow instructions/schedules.
Team player who communicates effectively but can also work independently.
RequirementsMust be a US Citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to pass pre-employment screening (including background checknot prohibited from owning/possessing firearms).
Satisfactorily complete the 90-day probationary period.
Willingness to adhere to all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Production Efficiency
Machine Uptime / Availability: Percentage of scheduled time the supported machines are running productively (target: 85%+).
Downtime Reduction: Minimize unscheduled downtime through proactive material staging and basic upkeep (target:Throughput / Parts Produced per Shift: Number of finished parts completed and verified against orders (tracked against production targets).
Setup / Material Staging Efficiency: Time to prepare and supply machines for continuous operation (target: minimize changeover delays).
Quality & Accuracy
First Pass Yield / Defect Rate: Percentage of parts passing initial inspection without rework (target: 95%+).
Count Accuracy: Percentage of accurate part counts and verifications (target: 99%+ reconciliation rate).
Non-Conformance Reporting: Timely identification and reporting of quality issues or discrepancies.
Data & Documentation
Data Entry Accuracy: Percentage of error-free entries/updates in production systems (target: 98%+).
Order Completion Timeliness: Percentage of production orders closed/completed accurately and on time (target: 95%+).
Inventory Record Accuracy: Alignment of system records with physical counts (target: 98%+).
Physical & Work Environment
Primarily standing/walking (90%+ of shift) with some seated data entry time.
Repetitive tasks, bending, reaching, and fine motor skills required.
Climate-controlled manufacturing setting; exposure to machinery noise.
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and parts up to 40 lbs.
Full PPE provided/required where needed.
