Job Description – Mechanical Engineer (Covington, LA – Office) General Position Summary: Design vessel piping and machinery systems Provide Calculation reports for marine systems Develop 2D/3D AutoCAD detail drawings. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare or revise engineering drawings in accordance with the marked-up prints, sketches, or verbal instructions provided by senior staff. Supervise the creation of multiple view drawings with appropriate details and section views, dimensions, and tolerances per department drafting standards. Track and manage incorporation of drawing technical and administrative comments from multiple sources. Perform surveys, ship checks, and analyze as-built drawings, redline mark ups and other correspondence to develop or revise drawings marine systems. Track detailed comments and their resolution across multiple vessel classes to ensure all end products are consistent and in accordance with governing documents and specifications. Writing of Equipment Specifications, Datasheets, Material Requisitions, and Technical Bid Evaluations Desired Characteristics: Knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics and other physical sciences to complete drawings. Experience with Excel and Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, AutoCAD. Applicant must be able to take detailed verbal direction and deliver accurate drawings. Strong attention to quality, organization skills, computing, and presentation skills. Strong work ethic and dedication. Must work well in a team dynamic. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school. 3 plus years as a Marine Engineer is required. Professional Engineers License not required but is preferred. Experience working on both commercial and government projects is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of ABS, USCG, & SOLAS rules. Ability to develop, comprehend, and evaluate contract specifications. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
