Role: Firewall Engineer Location: Remote Duration: 6 plus months Pay Rate: Market Standard Job Summary: An Associate Firewall Engineer is responsible for supporting the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of firewall and network security systems. This role works under senior security or network engineers to help protect an organization s network infrastructure from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in configuring, deploying, and maintaining firewall solutionsMonitor firewall logs and security alerts for suspicious activityHelp implement and maintain network security policies and rulesSupport troubleshooting of firewall and connectivity issuesPerform routine firewall rule reviews and cleanupAssist with vulnerability assessments and security auditsDocument firewall configurations, changes, and proceduresCollaborate with network, security, and IT teamsStay current with emerging security threats and best practicesSupport incident response activities as needed Required QualificationsBachelor s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). In addition to educational qualification, candidate should possess at least 3-5 years IT experience with firewall administration or relevant Enterprise Security management.Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing, switching)Familiarity with firewall technologies (e.g., Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco)Understanding of network security fundamentalsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in a team environment Preferred QualificationsCertifications such as:CompTIA Security+Network+CCNAExperience with SIEM toolsExposure to cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Basic scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or Bash)Internship or lab experience in network security Technical SkillsFirewall rule managementLog analysisVPN technologiesNetwork troubleshootingSecurity best practicesBasic Linux/Windows administration Soft SkillsAttention to detailProblem-solving mindsetWillingness to learnTime managementDocumentation discipline Diverse Lynx LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
