Log Yard Manager

The Baillie Group’s Davenport, NY location is looking to add a Log Yard Manager to the team. The Log Yard Manager is responsible for all aspects of grading, scaling, sorting and preparing logs delivered to the sawmill. This role is responsible for overseeing a busy log yard. This is an excellent job for someone looking to join a world class lumber organization as a Log Yard Manager.
Log Yard Manager Duties:
Coordinating and delivering on log sales
Maintaining a tidy and organized log yard
Supervising log yard personnel including loader operators and log yard graders
Grading and scaling logs
Responsible for log inventory log rotation, log sorting, managing the efficient flow of logs necessary to meet sawmill flow demands
Communicate with the mill operations, wood procurement, and the mill quality team to ensure correct product mix is being achieved
Complete necessary paperwork and complete necessary computer work
Other duties as needed
Log Yard Manager Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Forestry preferred but not required
Excellent communication skills with all levels of the company
Solid understanding of basic mathematics
Ability to work in a team atmosphere
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to work with a number of different technologies and computer programs
Willingness to work in an outside environment
Log Yard Manager Benefits & Pay
Anticipated Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Pay - $70k-$85k/year*
Full time hours – 50 hours/week
