This role blends strategic network design with day-to-day operational engineering and serves as a Tier III escalation point for complex networking challenges.Role OverviewThe Enterprise Network Engineer I plays a key role in engineering, integrating, and supporting highly available LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructures. This position supports enterprise-scale environments and collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure network performance, reliability, and scalability. The role also provides guidance and technical mentorship to Level I and II support teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and plan enterprise network solutions aligned with organizational technology strategyEngineer and support highly available LAN, WAN, and wireless infrastructuresAct as Tier III support for complex network issues and escalationsIntegrate network components and technologies into existing enterprise environmentsMonitor, optimize, and tune network performance, availability, and capacityPerform network provisioning, configuration management, and performance tuningAutomate operational tasks using scripting where applicableEvaluate new technologies, conduct testing, and support system upgrades and patchesCoordinate with vendors and manage technical support engagementsParticipate in and lead cross-functional infrastructure projectsProvide training and technical direction to internal teamsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field or equivalent professional experience (approximately 8 years)8+ years in large enterprise IT environments supporting diverse network technologies5+ years of hands-on experience in network design, engineering, implementation, and supportTechnical SkillsAdvanced routing protocol expertise: EIGRP, OSPF, BGP/iBGPStrong knowledge of LAN redundancy and high‑availability designs (HSRP, multi-layer redundancy)Advanced understanding of IP addressing, LAN protocols, and network servicesExperience with one or more of the following:Enterprise routers, switches, and WLAN platforms (Cisco, Aruba)Firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security technologiesSD‑WAN solutionsApplication delivery controllers (F5)WAN optimization tools (Silver Peak)Voice over IP (VoIP) networksWorking knowledge of Windows, Linux, and VMware environmentsPreferred QualificationsVendor certifications (Cisco, Aruba)Wireless survey and optimization certifications (Ekahau, AirMagnet)Experience in highly regulated or complex enterprise environments
