Architectural, Engineering, and Related ServicesOffice Furniture (including Fixtures) ManufacturingRestaurants and Other Eating PlacesCommercial and Service Industry Machinery ManufacturingOther Heavy and Civil Engineering ConstructionVacuum Instruments Corporation (VIC Leak Detection), a leader in helium leak detection instrumentation and custom automated test systems, is seeking a motivated and detail orientedControls Engineering Intern to support our engineering and automation team.This internship provides hands-on experience in industrial automation, with exposure to real-world applications involving PLC programming, HMI development, and system integration across a variety of platforms and industries.Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and modification of PLC programs, primarily using ladder logic- Support HMI (Human Machine Interface) design and programming for custom leakdetection and test systems- Work with multiple PLC/HMI platforms, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron,Automation Direct, and other industry-standard controls platforms- Participate in system testing, debugging, and validation activities- Assist with electrical and controls documentation, including I/O lists and wiring diagrams- Support commissioning activities both in-house and, when applicable, at customer sites- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and applications engineers to implement integrated system solutions- Troubleshoot control systems and assist in resolving technical issues on the production floorQualifications- Background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (degree not required)- Basic understanding of programming concepts (experience with any programming language is beneficial)- Interest in industrial automation and control systems- Familiarity with PLCs or ladder logic is a plus, but not required- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment- Strong communication skills and willingness to learnPreferred (Not Required)- Exposure to PLC programming or industrial automation- Experience with Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000 / RSLogix), Siemens (TIA Portal), Omron(Sysmac Studio), Automation Direct (Productivity Suite / Do-more)- Basic understanding of electrical systems and schematicsWhat You Will Learn- Practical experience in PLC programming using ladder logic- Development of industrial HMI systems- Integration of controls with mechanical and pneumatic systems- Exposure to leak detection technologies and automated test systems- Hands-on troubleshooting and system debugging techniques- Real-world project experience from concept through commissioningInternship Details- Duration: Flexible (based on program or candidate availability)- Schedule: Full-time or part-time opportunities available- Compensation: Paid internship (commensurate with experience)Why Join VIC?- Work on real, production-level systems used by leading manufacturers- Gain exposure to a wide range of automation platforms and technologies- Learn directly from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment
