*Salary: $85,000 - $100,000/year*
*This is a permanent/direct hire position.*
*Job Overview:*
Researches, develops, designs, sustains and tests mechanical/electromechancial products and systems, related to commercial HVAC equipment. Also, directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical/electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties:
*Job Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:*
* Develop detailed mechanical designs and specifications using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo, including mechanical drawings and schematics.
* Conduct tolerance analysis and mechanical detail drawings to ensure precision and compliance with industry standards such as ASME codes.
* Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to validate mechanical integrity and optimize designs for performance and durability.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including electrical engineers, manufacturing specialists, and project managers—to integrate system design requirements.
* Utilize 3D modeling techniques for product development, incorporating building information modeling (BIM) tools where applicable.
* Execute root cause analysis on mechanical failures or design issues, implementing corrective actions effectively.
* Manage project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of mechanical product development projects from conception through prototyping and testing.
* Support manufacturing processes by providing technical guidance on machine design, CNC programming, and assembly procedures.
* Apply principles of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure precise manufacturing tolerances.
* Use simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or LabVIEW to model system behaviors and validate design concepts.
* Prepare technical documentation including schematics, mechanical drawings, system design reports, and compliance documentation.
*Requirements*
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
* Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on mechanical product development.
* Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo for 3D CAD modeling and drafting.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including machine design, tolerance analysis, and system integration.
* Experience with FEA software for structural analysis; familiarity with CFD is advantageous.
* Knowledge of programming environments such as MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, Arduino, or CNC programming.
* Familiarity with industry standards including ASME codes & standards for mechanical design.
* Excellent cross-functional communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams effectively.
* Ability to perform root cause analysis using systematic approaches to troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues.
* Project management skills to oversee project scheduling and deliverables within tight timelines.
* Understanding of building information modeling (BIM) tools is beneficial but not mandatory.
