Job Description: Class B CDL Roll-Off Truck Driver / OperatorCompany: Southway Sanitation Location: Indianapolis Metro Area (Primary) + Regional Deployment as RequiredEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewSouthway Sanitation is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Class B CDL Roll-Off Truck Driver / Operator to support our growing waste management and construction services division. This role is responsible for the safe transport, delivery, and servicing of roll-off dumpsters across commercial, construction, and emergency response sites.This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and safety compliance in both routine and surge operations.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & DrivingOperate a Class B roll-off truck with cable or hook-lift system (20, 30, and 40-yard containers)Deliver, exchange, and remove roll-off dumpsters at customer sitesTransport and dispose of waste at approved landfill and transfer stations (e.g., South Side Landfill – Indianapolis)Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT standardsSafely maneuver vehicles in tight construction sites, residential areas, and high-traffic zonesSafety & ComplianceMaintain full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulationsEnsure proper load securement and weight distributionIdentify and report safety hazards, equipment issues, or incidents immediatelyAdherent to environmental and waste disposal regulationsCustomer ServiceServe as a frontline representative of Southway SanitationCommunicate clearly and professionally with customers on-siteEnsure accurate placement of containers to avoid property damage or access issuesResolve minor service issues in the field and escalate when neededEquipment & Asset CareMaintain cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned vehicleMonitor hydraulic systems, hoist operations, and container conditionReport maintenance needs proactively to prevent downtimeOperational SupportAssist with basic yard organization and container staging when not on routeSupport surge operations (storm response, disaster deployment, large-scale projects) as requiredUtilize company systems (e.g., JotForm or dispatch software) for route tracking, service verification, and photo documentationRequired QualificationsValid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (Class A preferred but not required)Clean driving record (MVR acceptable per company insurance standards)Minimum 1–2 years of commercial driving experience (roll-off experience preferred)Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screeningStrong understanding of vehicle safety and basic mechanical awarenessPreferred QualificationsExperience operating roll-off trucks (cable or hook-lift systems)Experience in construction, waste management, or environmental servicesFamiliarity with Indianapolis metro routes and disposal facilitiesPrior experience in emergency response or rapid deployment operationsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs regularlyAbility to climb in and out of truck cab multiple times per dayComfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to work extended hours, weekends, or on-call shifts as neededWork ScheduleTypical schedule: Monday–Friday (with occasional weekends)Early start times based on route assignmentsOvertime and surge deployment opportunities availableCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay (based on experience)Overtime opportunitiesWeekly payroll (Fridays)Opportunity for growth within a rapidly expanding divisionParticipation in large-scale commercial and emergency response operationsDriver Incentive ProgramWhy Southway SanitationSouthway Sanitation is built on an asset-heavy, rapid-response model that allows us to deliver unmatched value and reliability.
