Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic

Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tractor-trailer repair and maintenance, with experience in uptime management. This role is essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet, which includes a variety of vehicles and machinery. The Fleet Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, performing repairs and maintenance on Volvo, Mack, Freightliner & Paccar products. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, and HVAC systems. Conduct diagnostics to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and mechanical components. Execute fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications. Maintain accurate records of repairs, services performed, and parts used. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team members and drivers regarding vehicle status and repair needs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing maintenance tasks. Assist in the assembly and disassembly of equipment as required. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fleet repair and maintenance. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding techniques. Familiarity with vehicle systems including suspension, shocks & struts, brake repair, alignment, tire service, and diesel engine repair. Experience working with industrial equipment such as tractor-trailers is required Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for equipment repair tasks. Experience in service technician roles or similar positions is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to read schematics effectively. Strong attention to detail coupled with a commitment to quality workmanship.
