Apply via Dice today!Accountant II / Corporate AccountantFunctional Area: Accounting & FinancePosition OverviewThe Accountant II is responsible for supporting corporate accounting operations, including monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger reconciliations, audit support, and technical accounting research. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information used for internal management reporting and external reporting purposes.The ideal candidate brings a balanced accounting background with exposure across financial, managerial, and cost accounting-not a role limited to a single specialty area. This position requires the ability to work independently on assigned projects while collaborating closely with operations, finance leadership, and cross functional teams.Reporting StructureReports directly to the Corporate Accounting ManagerWorks closely with Operating Division Controllers and location level accounting teamsKey ResponsibilitiesFinancial Close & ReportingAssist with the monthly close process, including preparation of routine and complex journal entriesSupport consolidation of multiple legal entities for financial and managerial reportingReview system generated and accountant prepared journal entries for accuracy and reasonablenessPrepare monthly internal financial reporting packages for managementExternal Reporting & ComplianceContribute to preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related footnote supportPrepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requestsParticipate in Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls testing and issue resolutionMaintain compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirementsGeneral Ledger & AnalysisPerform general ledger account reconciliations and review account activity for accuracyMaintain balance sheet integrity through analysis and issue resolutionPrepare financial and managerial analyses as requested by managementTechnical Accounting & ProjectsPerform accounting for complex areas such as:Stock based compensationPensionsDerivatives and other advanced accounting topicsResearch and document technical accounting issues as requiredSupport ad hoc accounting projects with an independent, analytical approachSystems & Cross Functional CollaborationUtilize ERP systems (SAP preferred) to prepare financial statements, reports, and variance analysisInvestigate financial discrepancies and partner with other departments to resolve issuesAct as a liaison between corporate accounting and operational accounting teamsContinuous Improvement & Professional StandardsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controlsStay current on changes to accounting standards, including:IFRSAuthoritative guidance from global and domestic accounting bodiesSupport financial acumen development across the organization through clear analysis and communicationQualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance3-5 years of progressive accounting experienceBroad experience across general, financial, and managerial accountingStrong analytical and problem solving skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating in a team environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience in a multi divisional or manufacturing environmentERP experience (SAP strongly preferred)Exposure to multi currency accounting and foreign exchange reportingCPA license preferredKey Skills & CompetenciesFinancial & Managerial AccountingMonth End Close & ConsolidationsGeneral Ledger ReconciliationAudit & SOX SupportTechnical Accounting ResearchStrong Communication & Business Partnering SkillsDetail Oriented with Strong Time Management AbilitiesRole ComplexityThis position requires a comprehensive understanding of general and cost accounting principles.
