As the Forensics Head Coach, you will have the opportunity to mentor students, cultivate excellence in speech and debate, and contribute meaningfully to a program that emphasizes both competitive success and personal development.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesRegister and prepare students for local, regional, and national tournamentsRecruit, manage, and train all coaches and judgesWork with other internal departments (facilities, transportation, calendar manager, etc.) to secure logistics and resources for the team, e.g., practice space and busesServe as main point-of-contact for the annual Grizzlies Forensics TournamentShow flexibility and understanding while working with students and families from a variety of circumstances and commitment levelsPartner with families and stakeholders regarding season progress, logistics, and tournament status and forward tournament results to the Communications office for Bear Facts e-newsletter and PR/website publicationWork collaboratively with teachers and other programs to reduce conflicts, partnering with teachers regarding academic progress and with the Athletics and Fine Arts programs to balance student commitment load and potential conflicts with other extracurricular activitiesCreate systems to foster community, encourage healthy internal competition, maximize teamwork, and reduce intra-squad rivalrySupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneRequirementsBachelor’s degree or extensive relevant experience requiredExperience in an educational setting and/or teaching experience desiredHold CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement) or obtain certification within 90 days of employment start dateCurrently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship is not available for this position)Critical Performance CompetenciesPositively support the school’s policies and practices and work collaboratively in a professional organizationTruthful, positive, and purposeful when communicating with othersAble to use strong written and oral communication skills to transfer thoughts and express ideasFlexible and adaptable in dealing with new, different or changing requirementsMaintain confidentiality and security of informationHold self and others accountable to accomplish resultsEffective in handling multiple concurrent tasksFamiliar with Microsoft Word and Outlook, ability to learn and work with the school’s integrated data-based software package as neededAdhere to biblical standards in all areas of conductPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teachMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times Work in a climate-controlled office with travel outdoors between buildingsSalary Description$10,000 Stipend
