Reporting to the Head of North America Property & Programs, the candidate will build and manage a team of managers and claim professionals overseeing Programs Claims across all lines of business. The role also serves as the single point of contact for all TPA and direct-handled Programs claims, supports underwriting objectives, and provides analysis, reporting, and risk assessments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a team responsible for direct management of claim investigations, analysis, and evaluation for both active and runoff situations.Oversee TPA-handled claims, ensuring best-practice investigation and evaluation.Collaborate with the Head of Specialty Complex Claims on coverage counsel retention, disputes, litigation, and arbitration matters.Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Actuarial, executive leaders) and external stakeholders (brokers, insureds, attorneys, auditors, reinsurers, vendors).Coordinate with Claims Quality Assurance and Compliance to implement quality and compliance reviews of TPA vendors.Manage audit processes and post-audit Management Action Plans for AXIS and TPA claims teams.Work with Global Head of Claims Third Party Management and Claims Shared Services to deliver best-in-class TPA services across North America.Oversee onboarding, off-boarding, and run-off of TPA relationships, including due diligence, contract review, negotiation, and performance tracking.Formulate claims and litigation strategies, assign and manage outside counsel, and provide strategic direction to Programs Claims teams.Identify liability and coverage trends and devise processes and strategies to manage such claims, ensuring consistency across underwriting segments.Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to direct reports, collaborating with HR for development and succession planning.Recruit and retain top talent, developing succession plans.Communicate with senior executives, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, insureds, and auditors.Key Skills & AbilitiesTrusted claims leader with deep expertise in commercial insurance, programs, and TPA-managed portfolios.Strong understanding of program structures, underwriting intent, and pricing assumptions.Ability to apply policy language and coverage intent consistently.Proven experience influencing TPAs through governance and performance management.Data-driven decision maker translating claims trends into actionable insights.Collaborative partner to Underwriting, Actuarial, Legal, and Compliance functions.Sound judgment in managing complex, high-severity claims.Executive-level communication skills, distilling complex claims into concise summaries.Self-directed leader thriving in a fast-paced, portfolio-driven environment.Representative of AXIS, engaging brokers, clients, TPAs, and internal teams, and willing to travel.Knowledge of claims, litigation, arbitration, and trial processes with strong analytical, investigative, and negotiating skills.Ability to balance immediate claim issues with broader portfolio and customer-service impacts.Excellent oral and written communication and conflict-resolution skills.Experience handling casualty claims across diverse scenarios and reporting to senior management.Travel required for team management, court proceedings, mediations, and settlements.Bachelor's degree required; professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AIC) or advanced degree preferred; Law degree and bar admission a plus.BenefitsAXIS offers comprehensive benefits, competitive compensation, and attractive work-life perks.
