Development Operations Manager

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS MANAGERPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Development Operations Manager is a non‑exempt, part‑time, on‑site position with remote work options. This role reports to the Director of Development and supports the department in implementing all fundraising activities. The Development Operations Manager works closely with all members of the Development team and serves as a development ambassador to other departments.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManage all aspects of gift processing, including gift entry, acknowledgements, payment and pledge gift entry, tracking and reporting, recognition for gifts from all sources, etc. Responsible for ongoing donor acknowledgement, appreciation, and recognition consistent with gift level.Provide front-line support to the Development team in fundraising, including but not limited to providing administrative support, gift processing, coordinating solicitation mailings, supporting donor cultivation events, developing support materials and collateral, preparing donor recognition, reporting, editing and proof-reading, managing e-communications, etc.Use nonprofit development software, currently Blackbaud’s Altru, for gift entry, tracking and reporting, revenue metrics, event registration, fundraising and prospect tracking and management.Manage department metrics, goals, and produce reports on a regular basis. Provide support for financial reconciliation as needed.Support the Development team in managing, cultivating and stewarding individual donor relationships, including responding to inquiries, delivering donor benefits and access, writing and formatting e-communications, event registration and tracking, supporting stewardship activities, etc.Cultivate existing individual donors and encourage renewal, retention and increased donor support.Provide support for the Sponsor-an-Animal program, including developing pricing, strategy, and promotions, to generate additional revenue.Working with the Marketing team, design and implement e-communications and appeals using MailChimp and social media; create graphics in Canva for use in social posts, appeal mailings, signage, and email campaigns.Working with the Marketing team, create an annual Impact Report to highlight philanthropic contributions, donors, and organization success throughout the year.Provide event coordination and support for annual fundraising benefit in conjunction with Development staff, and support numerous donor cultivation events and meetings, donor hospitality, etc.Provide general office assistance (e.g. filing, maintaining inventory, list pulls, data entry, etc.).Work effectively with diverse constituencies within and outside the organization, such as board members, staff and volunteers. Represent the Development Department at inter-department meetings as assigned.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development or leadership.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSExhibits strong sensitivity to donor confidentiality and excellent judgment in addressing donor needs and feelings.Demonstrated proficiency with Blackbaud's Altru softwareDemonstrated proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint (including advanced use of Word mail merge functions and Excel formulas and functions)Proficiency with e-commerce sites such as CommitChange and e-marketing platforms such as MailChimpDemonstrated proficiency with a project management system; familiarity with Slack a plusStrong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading and communication skillsWork effectively with sensitivity and confidentiality with diverse constituencies within and outside the organization, such as board members, donors, staff and volunteersAbility to manage multiple projects and work assignmentsExcellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high degree of professionalismAbility to accomplish projects with little supervision and shifting prioritiesStrong customer service ethic and high expectations for qualityBachelor’s degree preferred; significant work experience can substitute for the degreeAt least 3 years’ experience with office administrative management or transferable experienceMust be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United StatesLiveScan background check clearanceCandidates familiar with CuriOdyssey and its programs are encouragedSCHEDULEAvailability: 3 days/week, Monday - Friday during regular business hours.
