Job DescriptionA Senior Structural Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction, utility infrastructure, roadways, erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects. We are seeking innovative, results-oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.QualificationsEssential Engineering Skills and Functions:Perform the following functions:structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projectsDesign of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction.Design experience with light gage steel and timber is a plusStrong ability to interpret technical drawingsLead design team effortsManage project team for budget and schedule controlDevelop fee and qualification-based proposalsCollaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.Conduct marketing/business development activitiesPositive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.Ability to travelWork closely with other offices, such as Raleigh, Atlanta structural groups to complete projects and tasks.Education/Experience/QualificationsB.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, Etabs, Enercalc, etc.).Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.Project Management experience and/or certificationsDesire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teamsLocal AHJ experience and relationships is a plusActive local industry involvement is a plusCompensation and BenefitsSalary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rateCompetitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performanceHybrid Work Schedule (subject to change)401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution
