Title : Infrastructure Engineer | Messaging & Middleware Location : St. Paul, MN | Hybrid Job Type : Contract (12 months) Compensation : $50-54 per hour (W2 only, no C2C) Industry: Insurance & Financial Services Our firm is partnering with a leading organization in the insurance and financial services industry to hire an Infrastructure Engineer. This role supports a highly regulated, enterprise-scale environment where you will design, maintain, and optimize core infrastructure systems, ensuring stability, security, automation, and high availability across critical platforms. Job Description Design and implement monitoring, automation, configuration management and reporting functions to support a hands-off infrastructure environment using tools such as SolarWinds and Cisco technologies Design, install, configure and manage servers, VMs, networking, storage devices and firewalls, including platforms such as Tegile, Nimble, VMware, Cisco, Microsoft and Citrix Follow established change management processes, incident response protocols and testing methodologies for system and software modifications Anticipate, identify, troubleshoot and resolve system and software issues Document and resolve customer incidents, problems and service requests in a timely manner Perform routine system maintenance including OS and application patching, driver updates and performance monitoring Develop documentation for new and existing systems Provide strong customer service through effective communication and collaboration Mentor junior team members Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency strategies including disaster recovery and business continuity Define and document best practices and support procedures Provide after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies and periodic weekend maintenance Assist with hardware and software vendor evaluation, recommendations and negotiations Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and evidence Collaborate with technical staff across multiple teams when needed Qualifications Required Proven contributions to complex technical projects involving one or more of the following: IBM MQ, Amazon MQ, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ or similar messaging products IBM DataPower, Amazon API Gateway, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform or similar API management tools Experience with shell scripting such as Bash in Linux or PowerShell in Windows Experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems Practical hands-on experience in at least one programming language such as Java, .NET (C# or VB.NET), Go or C or C++ Knowledge of network layers such as TCP and TLS, messaging protocols such as MQ and AMQP and web protocols such as HTTP Proficiency with software orchestration tools such as Puppet including writing jobs Familiarity with public cloud platforms, especially Amazon AWS Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform Familiarity with container technologies such as Kubernetes Knowledge of infrastructure technologies including network, database, server and storage systems Preferred Four or more years of IBM MQ solution engineering experience Two or more years of programming experience in C# Dahl Consulting is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees that will allow you to choose the best coverage to meet your family's needs.
